National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian Govt. Public Service Programme sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports. The scheme was launched in 1969, the birth century of the year of Mahatma Gandhi. NSS unit of Jengraimukh College plays an important role during the period of establishment of the college to develop community as well as personal benefit.
The main objectives of the NSS are to create leadership qualities and a democratic attitude of the volunteers, understand the community where they live, identify the problems, and responsibilities towards society, practice national integration and social harmony, skill in mobilizing participation etc.
