The Department of Botany, Jengraimukh College, Majuli came into existence in the year 2020. The department initiated to introduce Honours course in Botany under the CBCS curriculum as prescribed by the Dibrugarh University. Presently the department has two full time teachers with one laboratory bearer. The department is well-equipped with laboratory facilities for B.Sc. students. The objective of the department is to impart knowledge of plants among the students through theoretical as well as practical perspectives, which will help them to identify, utilize the plants in different allied field. Thus, we can inculcate conservation strategies among students by imparting knowledge of plants of such biologically diversified region so that natural resources could be well preserved for future generation. The department of botany maintains a botanical garden which has numerous wild and ornamental plants. Thus, it caters to the needs of students for their practical work. In view of a lively rural surroundings and rich diversity of plants, the region has a high potential for various plant-based research. The department encourages the students to take part in community services like Health camps, Plantation drives through NSS, Eco-Club etc.

Facilities ::

The department has well established laboratories for both Honors and Generic students. All measures have been taken to provide all the necessary equipment. Some of the major equipment in the Department are digital weighing balance, simple microscope, compound microscope, water bath along with different glassware and sample specimen.
