The Department of Assamese of Jengraimukh College was established in the year of 1973. It is one of the important Departments in Jengraimukh College. The Department is ever ready to facilitate the students. The prime objective of the Department is to prepare and tune the undergraduate students with the updated knowledge of Assamese Language and Literature following thoroughly the syllabus provided by Dibrugarh University for today’s contemporary competitive environment. Frequent interactions with the students, regular evaluation and its critical analysis of the teaching-learning activities are other prime objectives of the Department.
The faculty members of the Department have been continuing research works towards regional to national level.
The Department has been organizing different seminars, workshops and awareness camps on some important issues to attract the students towards the field of Language and Literature.
The Department has some facilities as following:
Departmental Library:: The Department has a small library. Former students of Assamese Department and teachers have been donating books to the library.
Cultural Museum:: The Department also has a small Cultural Museum containing various artifices from different tribes of the Assam.
